I think you might have seen the ad on the newspaper or somewhere in public. Buger King launch their ‘‘Super Seven Incher” promotion recently and have created a big hoo-haa not only in Singapore but in the US too. The ad began with the headline that read:

“IT’LL BLOW YOUR MIND AWAY: Fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-grilled with the NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER. Yearn for more after you taste the mind-blowing burger that comes with a single beef patty, topped with American cheese, crispy onions and the A1 Thick and Hearty Steak Sauce.”

Sound saucy? If the words wasn’t bad enough, the picture suggest that the sandwich was approaching the woman’s mouth. Well, international bloggers have been calling the ad “most overtly blow-jobby ad I’ve ever seen” and”only thing this ad is missing is the disclaimer that you’ll actually get fewer blowjobs if you eat these sandwiches, but perhaps that’s the ‘genius’ of advertising that we simpletons on the outside just don’t get.”

Religion, the local agency that created the ad said they expect ‘a mixed feeling’. Well, what they did not expect was that the stir has gone all the way to the US. In the US, American bloggers are putting blame on Crispin Porter and Bogusky, Burger King Corporation’s US ad agency, prompting them to issue a statement on Twitter saying that they did not create the ad.

I am sure we have seen more suggestive ad but I guess this is really badly executed and had a bad taste. In my humble opinion, I don’t think it come close to been novel and interesting.

Poor Taste Saga Updated

Want to know how students and industry professionals are taking this Burger King Ad? Well, most of them said it’s racy and offensive. The Auburn Plainman release an article to give an idea of how poorly done the Singapore BK advertisement really is.

After all the bad publicity Burger King  got, they issue a statement:

“Burger King Corporation (BKC) values and respects all of its guests. This advertisement is running to support a limited promotion in the Singapore market and is not running in the U.S. or any other markets. It was produced by a locally-based Singapore agency and not by BKC’s U.S. advertising agency of record, Crispin Porter and Bogusky.”

What do you think of this advertisement? Is it novel or offensive?

    i am not offended.
serious, i can’t find anything offense with it.

it does suggest something naughty. but there isnt anything illegal with it.

however, for the copywriting, it has already done it’s job. be it good or bad publicity. as long as the poster get attention. job well done.

however, if there is a lot of people complaining about it… i guess they should change the ad…
