72% SMEs on Social Web, Only 12% Generating Sales

A recent survey of 100 Asian SMEs in five countries (majority from Singapore and Malaysia) about their usage of social media marketing was published in The Straits Times in November.  The survey was conducted by marketing consultancy NetProfitQuest (NPQ) and they found that 72% have some presence on social media platforms like Youtube, Twitter and Facebook. Of those with presence on the social web, 79% have a Facebook page and it has now overtook blogs as the number one preferred social media platform.

Study – How Consumers React on the Social Web

I think I was wrong by having this misconception that users on the social web does not like promotional messages and advertisements. A new study done by Performics and ROI Research on 3,000 consumers revealed that companies who embrace social media and communicate relevant messages to their target audience and on their terms will get customers and grow their sales.
