Singapore universities here are adding new media curriculums to their already vast media subjects. Now you can go to school and learn how to tweet and facebook more professionally. One of the reasons for such a move is because social media is no longer just for entertainment purposes. Studies have shown that social media sites have a huge impact on society and you can’t deny the fact that many decisions are made after surfing social sites (like deciding which movie to watch).

Before this, in March,  Telegraph UK publish an article about a university offering social media degree for students. Like what Singapore universities offer here, the students get to learn about social networking tools and even basic skills such as creating a blog and podcast.

What all these tell me is that social media is not just here to stay. But it will become more important than ever before. What do you think?
