Social Media Success

Way before social media was hot, people gather at fun places and parties to hang out, meet people, make new friends, entertain and be entertained. For business people, they may try to find deals too.

Now, people still gather. However, more and more do it online through social media, such as Facebook and MySpace. They do the same thing; hang out, meet people, make new friends, entertain and be entertained, and perhaps find a deal too. There are a lot of differences though.

In a physical setting, it is impossible to gather everyone just to listen to your sales pitch. Online, you can talk to as much people as you want, through sending them email messages. Also known as spamming, a lot of people do not have tolerance for it. Spamming is not an effective strategy to advertise your trade.

There are others way to advertise on social media. You can simply add some data to your profile, on what you do. This is a non-pushy and passive way to advertise your stuff without annoying people. Another way is to create a group, state its purpose (can be just for your company) and invite people to join or read. This is the best way to do something on social media. It is an interactive, friendly and low-pressure. As more people join your cause, the cause gets bigger and the number of people reading it will increase quickly. The key is to do things in a way that does not push people to react.

Forums are another great way to get some promotion. By helping others out with questions relevant to your field, and dropping a link to your company site, you can get traffic to your website and help people out at the same time. It is amazing how gratitude from other people will help to get traffic going for our site.
