Social networking websites are great places for people to share ideas, comments, and give advice. Recognise that people like to give their opinions on matters whether they are experts on the subject or not, and therefore any place where people can get to voice their opinions openly are greatly appreciated by the masses. Business people also find the very same websites attractive as they can find people who are on the same wavelengths, and thus find customers, employees and partners.

Social networking websites has millions of users, and these users may be linked together by common interests. These websites gives the opportunity for people to talk to one another, to exchange thoughts and comments, to praise and condemn and to form groups with like minded individuals. As friendships are being built, some give traffic to personal blogs. This traffic grows as long as the group is active and growing. A lot of business people has already grasped the importance of being in such networking sites, and have started to maximise their costumer base with these great systems. They create niche groups, write about them, and give links to their business blogs and business websites.

Social media marketing is very advantageous and gives an edge over others. It is getting increasing popular as a marketing strategy. Although it is still relatively new , companies have been set up to help other companies build and grow an online presense, and drive trafffic to the main website. The increased traffic brings about an increase in sales and profits. Many companies feel that the small fee paid to social media optimisation companies are worthwhile, as they quickly attain sales number never before reached. It is high time to start creating an online presence, especially when a rival firm has already started doing so.
