With all the news agencies banned from reporting on the protest in Iran, social media have taken a very big role in providing people around the world with first hand accounts of the crisis in the country. Since the protest broke out in mid Jun, many social networking sites including YouTube have provided the platform to allow common people in the country to distribute images, video clips and even organize rallies for the cause.

Social media have certainly changed the way we look at the world and it has brought us to a point where there is no way we can hide anything. Yes, Iran tries to ban Facebook, Twitter and global news agencies from distributing information about the protest. But it doesn’t work because people power is stronger than any political forces. As Obama said ever so well, “No force can stop the people who want change”.
