How to Build Traffic to Your Blog Part 2
For any internet company to be profitable, traffic must be thick enough for regular sales to occur. For most websites that does not happen passively; you have to put in some efforts if you want to see some sales coming in. Therefore, you need to leverage on other sites, and direct some traffic to yours. There are more than just a few methods and all of them work well to a certain extent.
Blog marketing has been getting increasing popularity due to its low cost and effectiveness. Blogs have become the new way for people to get information, and therefore building a blog to compliment your main site would be a great way to do some traffic. Always have links from the blog to drive traffic to your main site. You can start with Wordpress, which is free. The main key to retaining good traffic in blogs is having good content, updated on a regular basis. This will keep your visitors returning for more, and that raises the chances that they will go to your main site through your links, thus traffic for your money-making website.
Social networking sites are great tools that you can use to drive traffic to your site. These sites already have millions of users and are gold mines for traffic building. Well-known websites like Facebook and Friendster, Myspace and Linked In, are the best websites to get started with. Using them in the right way will help you get slowly-building but steady traffic. Beware not to spam them. Doing so will get you out of their systems. You may even make a bad name for your company. Surely, you do not want your company to be well known for spamming. So, exercise extra caution in using them.
A lot of people also do article marketing. It is one of the best ways to build traffic. Article websites such as go articles.com is ranked very well in search engines, and therefore attract a lot of traffic. What you can do is to submit your articles so that people can find your site. Writing and submitting good articles have 2 good advantages. The obvious first is that people will look at your website. The second is that, as you write more and more, you will be recognized as an expert on the relevant matter. Think of it as building credibility for yourself and for your business.

Thanks, all good advice however I am wondering if you have tips on getting more incoming links from sites other than social media?
Cheers
Hi Andrew,
In fact there are many ways to get Free or Paid Incoming Links (White-hat / Black-hat) from other sites. I will list down 3 of them below:
1) Join a related Forum such as http://www.warriorforum.com (If you are in Internet Marketing Niche). Create a Signature with link to your site. Be active and dress yourself up to actively participate in the forum discussion. Even post that you make will leave a link back to your site.
2) If you are using a Blog like Wordpress – Create a MyBlogLog. Put an interesting photo to make yourself stand-out. Now, everytime you visit a site with MYBlogLog Plugins installed, You will leave a trace back to your site. – I got quite a few free links back from there.
3) This method needs a bit of capitals – Buy Text-Link-Ads. However, only place your ads from a site with at least PR3 and above. ‘Page Rank’ is monitored by Google’s internal algorithm, and they always update the ranking every 3-4 months. Any blog with at least a PR3 usually drive a certain amount of traffic per month to their site.
Hope I have provided some good info here. Gd Luck!
