Having a blog will boost your website ranking quickly. This can be one with 2 simple steps. Firstly, download, install and run blogging software such as WordPress on the server of your website. This process is fairly easily and comes with clear instructions and support if needed.

Next, decide where you want to install a blog on your site. Unless the blog is to be the main focus of the site you don’t want to locate it on the main page. By placing it in its own folder you won’t detract from the main page but will still benefit from the search engine boost and traffic it generates.

By frequently posting to your blog you will attract search engine ’spiders’ to crawl your site for the fresh content you have posted. Fresh content is the key element for increasing your rankings therefore the ability to post often gives your blog a large advantage over a website which is updated infrequently.

The proper use of keywords makes it easier for the search engines to pull up your site in their search results. You want to be sure to use those keywords that are relevant to your post but not to overuse them. Search engine spiders pick up on ‘keyword stuffing’ immediately and simply ignore the site as a result. A ratio of 2 to 5 percent keyword usage is a safe range and generally acceptable.

By having other sites linked to yours the search engines place more relevance on your site. These links are noticed by the spiders when they are visiting other sites. The higher the ranking of the site the greater the relevance search engines will put on yours.

Pinging is a tracking program installed on your blog that notifies search engines that you’ve just posted new content. Once this occurs search engines visit your site to ‘view’ the new post thereby increasing your site ranking with each visit.
